Pokémon GO receiving Raid Boss Battles, Gym Badges & Revamped Gyms!

Pokémon has always been near and dear to me. Along with Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem it is truly one of the most beloved franchises that will forever remain in my collection. So when Pokémon GO released last year it was incredible not only for fans but for the world itself and became a world wide wonder on mobile devices everywhere. People everywhere no matter where you might have visited would be playing, catching and socializing. Unfortunately a few months later it died down as fast as it had risen although there are many that still play it, it just does not make the news as it used to. With the same monotonous Pokémon being captured over and over again people became bored of it with only the Pokémon Gym’s being a real challenge. That was of course until the generation 2 Pokémon were released which then seen an increase in players once again. Of course with everything that also died down a bit and Pokémon GO trainers became scarce once again. However that might all change once again and although we might not see the world shouting out “Gotta Catch em all” this new update coming might just increase player numbers again.

Niantic yesterday announced that their largest update is soon to hit players and included in the update are in my opinion things that should have been released last year before the Christmas festive season. Included in the update are new gym features which will allow up to six Pokémon only to occupy the gym at any given time, the catch is that each of the six cannot be the same. Gyms will also now act like PokéStops as well as host the new raid battle where trainers will be able to take on a high leveled Pokémon once a day and if beaten will acquire special items as well as a chance to catch a high powered Pokémon. And just to make sure I don’t miss out on any information lets check it out below compliments of Niantic:

New Gym Features and Updates: Starting soon, Gyms are undergoing a major facelift. You’ll soon be able to spin the Photo Disc at Gyms to acquire items just as you do at PokéStops—but that’s only the beginning. More updates to Gym battles are also just around the corner. Gyms are no longer based on Prestige and training. Instead, they now feature six permanent slots that can be filled by the controlling team’s Pokémon. Each Pokémon assigned to these slots must be unique. For example, only one Blissey can be assigned to a Gym at a time. In addition, opposing teams will battle the Pokémon in the order they were assigned to the Gym.

At the heart of the update is a new motivation system that will significantly change how you interact with Gyms. When a Pokémon is assigned to a Gym, a motivation meter will be displayed. Pokémon assigned to defend a Gym lose motivation over time and as they are defeated in battle. As a Pokémon loses motivation, its CP will temporarily decrease, making it easier for opposing teams to defeat. To help keep the Pokémon motivated and in tip-top shape for their next battle, Trainers can treat their team’s Pokémon to some Berries, which restore their motivation. If a Pokémon loses all motivation, it will leave the Gym and return to its Trainer the next time it loses a battle, so you’ll want to keep your team’s Pokémon motivated by giving them Berries frequently!

Gym Badges: Now you’ll be able to earn Gym Badges when interacting with the many Gyms around the world. Gym Badges serve as mementos of your Pokémon GO adventures and reflect your contribution to a Gym’s success.

You’ll be able to level up your Badges by battling, giving Berries to the Pokémon in the Gym and spinning the Gym’s Photo Disc. You can earn the opportunity to receive bonus items and increased rewards from Gyms by raising the level of your Gym Badge.

New Raid Battle Feature: All around the world, you’ll soon be able to participate in the new Raid Battle feature at Gyms. A Raid Battle is a cooperative gameplay experience that encourages you to work with other Trainers to defeat an extremely powerful Pokémon known as the Raid Boss. Before a Raid Battle begins, a large Egg will appear atop the Gym. When the countdown above the Egg reaches zero, the Raid Boss will be revealed.

Before you can battle the Raid Boss, you’ll need a Raid Pass. You can get one free Raid Pass per day by visiting a Gym, but you can only hold one at a time. You can also get Premium Raid Passes from the in-game shop. Upon using your pass to join the battle, you and up to 20 other Trainers work together to defeat the Raid Boss. If you successfully defeat the Raid Boss within the five-minute time limit, you’ll have the chance to catch an extra powerful Pokémon of your own!

New Items: After defeating a Raid Boss, you’ll receive a collection of rewards, including some new items obtained only by defeating a Raid Boss: Rare Candies, Golden Razz Berries, and two types of Technical Machines—Fast and Charged. A Rare Candy is a mysterious candy that, when used on a Pokémon, turns into that Pokémon’s Candy. Golden Razz Berries will greatly increase your chances of catching a Pokémon you encounter in the wild and can also be given to a Pokémon assigned to a Gym to fully recover its motivation meter. Technical Machines are items you can use to permanently teach a Pokémon a new Fast Attack or Charged Attack.

I honestly cannot wait for this update and would love to know if any of you have played or still play this mobile hit wonder.

Fire Emblem Heroes – The Voting Gauntlet!

The mobile wonder hit for Fire Emblem fans across the world released just over a month ago now, Fire Emblem Heroes. The “gotcha” mobile tactical rpg that has fans summoning characters from across the Fire Emblem franchise.

A summoning system that I both hate and love. Why you ask. Well lets just say that while every other fan around me has summoned more than two five star heroes, it took me a month and quite a number of summons to finally summon my first legendary hero.

However I cannot complain as the five star hero that I managed to summon was non other than Hoshido’s Samurai Prince Ryoma! A noble from Fire Emblem Fates.

Fire Emblem Heroes is currently hosting the games “first large-scale event” in a battle of Princes vs Princesses. The event begun on the 07th of March with Round 1 and Round 2 both already completed. In Round 1 we saw Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening battling it out against new comer Alfonse from Fire Emblem Heroes, Chrom of course takes victory here. We also see Lucina, from FE Awakening going up against Sharena also from FE Heroes with Lucina taking that victory. And of course Ephraim and Eirika fom Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones take victory against the siblings from Fire Emblem Fates, Leo and Elise.

Round 2 we saw Chrom going up against Ephraim with Ephraim coming out on top and Lucina going up against Eirika, with Lucina taking another round there. The final round has 30 hours left at the time of writing this so there’s still plenty of time for you to get into the action. However at this current moment in time Lucina’s Army is sitting with over 5 million points were as Ephraim’s Army only possesses just under 1.5 million. I hate to count the chicks before they hatch but I would highly recommend you join Lucina’s army for the items and points if you haven’t already joined an army.

During the event fans will also be treated to additional log in bonuses, special quests to earn more battle flags to assist in the voting gauntlet as well as a special Xenologue map under paralogues.

Fans have also been notified in-game that a new feature is coming to the game that’s being called “Inherit Skill”. The feature will allow a character to receive another characters skill. The date for release on this feature is slated for the 16th of March.
